Our Story

Passion & a Sense of Adventure

Owners Brad and Chelsea both grew up on the land. Brad on serious acres and Chelsea on a smaller property. After spending a few years working in Adelaide, they decided to look for a property close enough to commute to the city and found a lovely 45 acres in McLaren Vale in 2013. Excited for the horse paddocks and beautiful creek, the land happened to have a vineyard on the foothills out the back. Brad thought time and passion might set things straight, and if it didn’t work out, he would rip the vines out and plant a cereal crop just like old times.

Brad fenced the vineyard for sheep and started the process of improving the soil. They have achieved A-grade status for the shiraz from the Old Rifle Range vineyard and thought about the future and possibly sharing the natural beauty of the property with others and maybe making a wine for themselves. Enthused for the area, the views towards the sea seemed like the perfect location for luxury accommodation.

Time has flown by and Shadow Creek accommodation has been operating since 2018 and they live, work and volunteer in the community. And continue to operate with the support of passionate local providores and service providers.

In 2019, instead of just growing the grapes, they held fruit back to create a small batch wine brand with beautiful sketches of Shadow Creek life on the labels for guests to choose from the wine fridge and to take home as a reminder of their stay.

They are now developing a cellar door which will be open late 2024. An exciting build of new and old with recycled beams, newly discovered mud bricks and modern convenience. It will sit atop Turraparri creek, surrounded by stunning old gums, the stables, grazing stock and vineyards.
